Animal Rescue Inquires:

  • Humane Society of the United States of America (HSUS):Anyone searching for their pet, looking to adopt, foster, volunteer or would like HSUS to help rescue your pet please visit their website http://www.hsus.org/.

2-1-1 Call Center:

  • The 2-1-1 call center in New Orleans is operating the Crisis Line and Information Refferal Line 24 hours daily. For help call
    (800) 749-2673(COPE) or dial '2-1-1' if you are in New Orleans.

ASCO Foundation Hurricane Relief Fund:

  • The ASCO Foundation Hurricane Relief Fund has established a restricted Hurricane Relief Fund for cancer patients who have been affected by the hurricanes and need support services.   • Has a 24 hour emergency number for people with health or medical needs or needs to secure medications. They can be reached by calling (601)960-9988.

Department of Human Services:

Governor's Office Hotline:

Housing Needed for Persons with Disabilities:

  • Brenda Havens has resources to locate housing for persons with MR/DD. Brenda may be reached by calling (601)607-2981.

Mississippi Emergency Management Agency (MEMA):

  • This is a 24 hour emergency number for people who need several services from several agencies. They may be reached by calling 1-800-222-6362 or (601)352-9100.

Mississippi Homeland Security:

Salvation Army:

  • The Jackson Branch of the Salvation Army can provide food, clothing and shelter, depending on where the caller lives. They can also refer callers to other areas. They may be reached by calling (601)982-4881 and the line is open from 8am - 4:30pm.

The Red Cross:

Texas Department of Health:

  • The Texas HIV Medication Program has developed a Hurricane Katrina Emergency Mediciation Relief Application that may be completed by displaced residents of Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama wno now reside in Texas.
